The ViVID Campaign is reimagining our teaching spaces and bringing a powerful new energy to the way we engage our students from pre-school to graduation in a way that is cohesive, engaging, and vibrant. During our transition year, the Junior School grades 3-5 are located in the new state-of-the-art wing on our Hillview Campus. Our Village Campus currently houses grades K-2.
Once the VIVID Campaign is complete our Maple Road Campus will house preschool through grade 4 and will boast expanded academic classrooms, specially designed art and music spaces, dedicated and age-appropriate gym spaces, enhanced secured entry areas and an expanded Makerspace for project based learning. The new facility will echo the spirit of the "Hamlet" which currently houses our preschool through Junior Kindergarten students.
To learn more and see some of our new facilities visit us at our Open House on October 21, 2018 from 1-3 PM.
The nurturing that began at Detroit Country Day Lower School continues as we tailor it to each student's maturity level. In the Junior School, your child will be guided on that path by caring and knowledgeable teachers who will keep students excited about learning, teach them it's "okay" to be smart or to ask questions if they are unsure, while establishing good study habits and promoting individual responsibility that can only be found in top Michigan private elementary schools. At every level, special units are taught which may combine the arts, science, social studies and French. Extra-curricular programs enhance the educational experience as children participate in performance groups, after-school enrichment or school-sponsored family activities.
Children will gain confidence, develop personal responsibility and increasing independence. They will discover within themselves a more capable and inquisitive young person than they ever imagined, leading them on their journey to the Middle School.
