World Language Requirement

Option 1: 1st language through level 4/5 (honors and non-honors) AND one academic year of study of a 2nd language (honors or non-honors).

Option 2: 1st language through level 4/5 (honors or non-honors) and two consecutive years of study of a 2nd language (honors or non-honors). This option will yield a Global Scholars Diploma with Distinction.

Engage

Experiential Travel/Host

Either through the Global Community Program, GYLI, or a third party program the student will travel to another country and/or host students from another country.

Create

Contributions to Global Studies Field

  • Summer Global Competency courses (IB student work on extended essay during course #2)
  • Globally-themed senior project (if IB diploma candidate, no senior project required)

Outcomes

Global Scholars or Global Scholars with Distinction designation on the DCDS diploma.
