Alumni Directory User Agreement
Effective Date: 4/10/2026
Participation in and use of the Detroit Country Day School Alumni Directory (the "Directory")
constitutes acceptance of and agreement with these terms. These terms are subject to change;
continued use of the Directory constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
1. Purpose and Permitted Use
The Directory is provided by Detroit Country Day School ("DCDS") to facilitate communication
among alumni for personal and professional networking, mentorship, and school-related
activities.
- Prohibited Uses: Directory information may not be used for advocacy or solicitation of any kind, including, but not limited to political campaigning, mass communications, religious solicitation, harassment, abuse, misrepresentation, or illegal activities.
- Data Reproductions: All information in the Directory is the property of DCDS. You may not reproduce, scrape, or distribute any portion of the Directory without express written permission.
2. User Privacy and Control
DCDS values your privacy. This portal is designed to give you control over your personal data:
- Visibility Settings: You acknowledge that you control which pieces of information (e.g., phone number, email, home address) are visible to other users. By allowing information to remain visible, you consent to being contacted by other members of the DCDS community for the purposes described above.
- Accuracy: You agree that all information you provide is accurate, current, belongs to you, and will be kept up to date.
- Data Deletion: If you wish to have your profile hidden or removed entirely from the Directory, please contact Alumni Relations at advancement@dcds.edu.
3. Account Security and Responsibility
Access to the Directory is granted on an individual basis.
- Credentials: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your username and password. You are fully responsible for all activities that occur under your login.
- Unauthorized Access: Sharing passwords or providing unauthorized access to the Directory is strictly prohibited. You must immediately notify School IT staff of any unauthorized use or security breach.
- Liability: DCDS makes no warranties or representations regarding the accuracy of information provided by users. DCDS shall not be liable for direct or indirect loss or damages arising from your use of the Directory. You will indemnify, defend and hold DCDS harmless from any loss, damage, claim or liability directly or indirectly arising from your use of the Directory.
4. Data Protection and Third Parties
- Third-Party Providers: DCDS may utilize third-party service providers to host or maintain the Directory platform. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and are prohibited from using your information for their own independent marketing purposes.
- No Sale of Data: DCDS does not sell, rent, or lease alumni contact information to third-party advertisers or commercial entities.
- Security Measures: While DCDS employs industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your data, no internet-based service is 100% secure. Users provide information at their own risk.
5. Conduct and Termination
- Confidentiality: Information learned about individual alumni via the Directory should be treated as private and should not be shared with outside parties or used for any purpose inconsistent with the DCDS mission.
- Suspension of Access: Failure to abide by these terms may result in the immediate revocation of your access. DCDS retains the discretion to remove a user’s access at any time, particularly in cases of harassment, commercial misuse, or security violations.
