Return to Campus Information

Our incoming Head of School, Rich Dempsey, implemented the Fall Opening of School Task Force in May. The Task Force consists of a team of administrators charged with examining different fall opening scenarios and developing actionable plans for each of them. Below is a planning document released on June 2, 2020. More information will be forthcoming and a series of webinars with the Head of School will be scheduled for parents, employees, and students.

Mission Driven Plan to Return to Campus

Remote Learning Flexibility

Detroit Country Day started delivering education through its remote learning environment on March 17, 2020 after the Governor ordered all schools to close on March 13, 2020. With the full support of our administration, our chief academic officer, along with our education technology specialist and IT department, amplified our learning management system (Canvas). Canvas was already part of the teaching and learning technology used by our faculty for the past two years. Although we prefer to be with our students in the classroom, on the fields, and in our performance venues, we have been able to keep them engaged in a robust and engaging curriculum. Our faculty will continue to creatively and through a visionary lens, develop lesson plans to keep our students on target until we can open our doors again.
