		<title><![CDATA[DCDS Junior is Panelist for Conference at Columbia University]]></title>

		<description><![CDATA[<p><span style="color: #003366; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;" size="2" face="arial,helvetica,sans-serif">While working with mentally disabled children in India, Sonia Ahluwahlia '14, befriended&nbsp; Ishita Khemka, PhD, a professor from Columbia University.&nbsp; Sonia shared&nbsp; her experiences and insight working with the children.&nbsp; Professor Ishita Khemka was so impressed with that she invited Sonia to be her research assistant on a pilot study involving the differences in reactions to bullying in adolescents with and without autism.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #003366; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;" size="2" face="arial,helvetica,sans-serif">The pilot study was recently finished and Sonia was invited as a panelist in an open forum conference to present her work and share her thoughts on the study.&nbsp; The official panel discussion was entitled: Inclusion of Adolescents with ASD and ID: Challenges in Friendships and Peer Relationships &amp; Global Perspectives.&nbsp; The program is an ongoing project for Columbia University and the New York community.&nbsp; Sonia presented in front of over 200 professors, college students, and community members. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #003366; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;" size="2" face="arial,helvetica,sans-serif">The next step will be for Sonia to meet again this summer with Dr. Khemka on a potential research project to further study the differences in perception of bullying and tools for kids to use during difficult situations. The goal will be to publish the research for which Sonia will be sited as a contributor.&nbsp; Dr. Khemke has commended Sonia for her contributions and recognized her insight as unique as generally this kind of research is done by doctoral students.</span></p>

The men's team battle valiantly to earn third place overall.&nbsp; We also had 15 student-athletes qualify for the state meet. </span></p>

		<title><![CDATA[DCDS Student Places in the Top 17 at Intel International Science and Engineering Fair]]></title>

Michael's project placed in the top 17 overall and won first prize in animal sciences. The Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) Program selects 1,000 talented students each year to receive a lifetime higher education scholarship to use at any college or university of their choice.
