Middle School Admissions

The admissions process is the same for all students seeking admission to the Middle and Upper Schools.

Please click on the “How to Apply” button at the right of this page for detailed information about the admissions process, including required forms and entrance examinations.

The application can be submitted online and all necessary forms can be accessed through our website. There is a non-refundable application fee of $50.00.

All candidates applying to Detroit Country Day Middle and Upper Schools take the Educational Bureau Record Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE) and the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test. Candidates must pre-register online with the Independent School Entrance Exam Bureau: www.iseetest.org. If you would like information regarding options for walk-in testing, please call (248) 430-3587.

Once an application has been submitted, the required forms have been returned and testing is completed, a personal interview with the candidate and his/her parents will be scheduled. The purpose of the interview is to get to know the applicant as well as his/her talents, curiosities, dreams and passions. The applicant’s parent(s) or guardian(s) will be contacted regarding the admission decision after the interview has concluded and a final review of the admissions portfolio has been conducted.

If you have determined a private middle school education is right for your child, please contact the Middle School Admissions Office at (248) 430-3655 to initiate the admissions process, or complete an online inquiry form.
